Early identification of security gaps with emCVE-Watch

emtrion has developed the emCVE-Watch software tool for the early identification of security gaps and vulnerabilities in embedded systems. emCVE-Watch compares file systems in real-time with current databases from Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures or CVE for short. This security management process prevents misuse of the embedded device by external access or IP theft and longer system downtimes.

With the spread of IoT systems in the embedded industry and the use of open source components, security is a particular focus. Systems must be continuously checked for vulnerabilities in order to guarantee that the device continues to run smoothly.

CVEs are published and documented in official MITRE Corporation databases. Databases from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or the Debian Project provide additional information on relevant security problems. A comparison of components of the system to be protected with these official CVE databases reveals all known system vulnerabilities.
