emtrion presents new solutions for Industry 4.0. at the SPS 2019
From 26 to 28 November 2019 Europe's leading industrial automation exhibition SPS smart production solutions will take place. In hall 5, booth 310 (EtherCAT Technology Group joint booth), emtrion will be presenting new Industry 4.0. solutions for digitization and automation. In terms of its product development, emtrion relies on long-term available components that meet the requirements of serial production and life cycle management.
Flex2COM - Powerful industrial communication
Today, Industrial Ethernet is an established technology with many advantages. It is suitable for real-time communication to an almost unlimited number of addressees and the transmission of large data amounts in combination with various transmission media. emtrion presents the IoT Gateway Flex2COM with the Renesas RZ / N1D multicore processor for real-time industrial Ethernet communication. The integrated R-IN engine enables high-speed communication in real time with low power consumption. For industrial multi-protocol communication, the R-IN Engine is supplemented by a 5-port Ethernet switch and slave controller for Sercos III and EtherCAT. The Flex2COM Gateway supports various common protocols such as EtherCAT, Profinet CCB RT1, EtherNet/IP or Sercos III and TCP/IP communication. The operating system choices are flexible. The gateway is equipped with Linux Yocto and HW-RTOS by standard. Support for Linux Debian and Android as well as other real-time operating systems such as QNX, FreeRTOS and ThreadX is possible on request.
RockEM-IoT– Optimization of manufacturing processes
The potential of Industry 4.0 is to create a more efficient and optimized manufacturing process. The collection, visualization and analysis of machine data gives manufacturers important indications of potenital savings and enables predictive machine maintenance. The RockEM-IoT Gateway consists of emtrion's emSBC-HeliumIoT with integrated microchip SAMA5D2 from Microchip, packaged in a top-hat rail enclosure and complemented by an easy-to-use application, developed by emtrion's partner, the software company Rock5. The RockEM-IoT Gateway can be connected to almost any fieldbus system. Common protocols such as Profinet, Modbus or OPC UA can be supported. Numerous interfaces enable the connection to all common fieldbus systems. Two additional customizable sockets for wireless modules can be used, for example, for the innovative mobile technology LTE CAT M1 or LoRaWAN. Thus, the bandwidth of communication interfaces is almost completely covered.
Industry 4.0 - It's not possible without long-term availability
On the one hand, the rapid technical development is responsible for component obsolescence, on the other hand, long life cycles of devices and systems are being strived for. A redesign or a new development can entail high follow-up costs for manufacturers. Therefore, emtrion is aware of the relevance of obsolescence management. Through a strategic selection of suppliers and individual components, emtrion guarantees a long-term availability of up to 15 years.
