Companies have to keep their devices up-to-date in terms of software features and security releases. mender.io is a software framework, that offers robust and secure over-the-air software updates for IoT devices at large scale. emtrion supports its customers in the setup and operation of mender.io infrastructures and update management concerning operating system security and application software security.

emtrion has developed the emCVE-Watch software tool for the early identification of security gaps and vulnerabilities in embedded systems. emCVE-Watch compares file systems in real-time with current databases from Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures or CVE for short. This security management process prevents misuse of the embedded device by external access or IP theft and longer system downtimes.

Debugging of virtualized multicore systems is even more complicated. Debuggers now have to deal with the different OS running in parallel with communication and hardware for virtualization. A debugger needs knowledge about the operating systems, the virtualization, the mapping of the peripherals, cores, and memory of each guest. The lecture will show, how awareness for Jailhouse was brought into the Lauterbach debugger.
