FAQ

Additional Interfaces (DIMM-MX53)

Is it possible to use additional interfaces or features, than mentioned in the HW Manual, without a redesign?

Please contact emtrion GmbH. It depends on the needed interface and the abdicable interfaces. The software must be adapted.

DIMM-MX537 vs. DIMM-MX535

What is the difference between the DIMM-MX535 and the DIMM-MX537?

The DIMM-MX535 is not available in the extended temperature range. The DIMM-MX535 doesn’t support CAN. The DIMM-MX535 cannot support IEEE1588 Ethernet. It can only support normal 10/100 Mbit Ethernet. The DIMM-MX537 has a maximum core frequency of 800MHz.

Not needed pins (DIMM-MX53)

How should not needed pins be connected on the baseboard?

They can be unconnected.

Ports as PWM (DIMM-MX53)

Which ports can be used as PWM output?

The processor has 2 PWM outputs. They can be routed to the following SODIMM pins. LCD_D8: PWM-1 LCD_D9: PWM-2 SDC1_D3: PWM-1 SDC1_D3: PWM-2 SDC1_CD#: PWM-2 SDC1_WP: PWM-1 But the then the LCD or/and SDC1 interface can't be used and the software must be adapted.

Power_on_Base Signal (DIMM-MX53)

Must the baseboard support the signal POWER_ON_BASE signal?

No. If the baseboard SODIMM pin 135 is 3V3 power supply, the DIMM-MX53x-3 boards can also be used. On the DIMM-MX53x-3 boards, there is protection circuit to avoid failures in that case.

Simultanous use of interfaces (DIMM-MX53)

Are there any interfaces on the DIMMMX53x modules which can’t be used simultaneously?

Yes, if the keypad function is used, the UART4 and UART5 are not available.

Usage of BAT pin (DIMM-MX53)

What must be considered if the BAT pin is not supplied by a battery from the baseboard?

1. The RESI# signal must be held low for minimum 1,5s after the DIMM Module was supplied by the baseboard.

2. An auxiliary voltage must be supplied minimum 1,5s before the DIMM Module is supplied by the main voltage.
