Android 15 “Vanilla Ice Cream” now available – a modern foundation for emtrion’s embedded systems

Android 15 is now available. The new version brings significant improvements in security, privacy, performance and compatibility.

Among the technical innovations are extended security features such as screen recording detection, enhanced permission checks and improved protection of sensitive notifications. Power management and overall system efficiency have also been further optimized. Developers benefit from updated APIs, new debugging and profiling tools, and improved support for modern graphics and multimedia applications via Vulkan and ANGLE. In addition, adaptation to various display sizes and device classes,  including large and foldable screens, has been further enhanced.

For embedded platforms such as emtrion’s emCON-MX8M Mini, Android 15 provides a current and stable software base that enables long-term security updates and extended system functionality. Combined with the industrial-grade hardware of the emCON-MX8M Mini, developers gain a modern and future-proof platform for HMI solutions, industrial gateways and IoT edge applications.
